Based on the recommendations of the Technical Committee set up by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Ministry of Employment and Social Welfare(MESW) to examine payments of certain allowances for Teachers , the Government of Ghana and the Teachers Unions have agreed on the following:

A Monthly professional allowance equivalent to 15%of monthly gross basic salary be paid to professional teachers.
- The payment of the professional allowance should be effected in three(3) tranches as follows:
- The First Tranche: 15% of monthly basic salary in June 2010
- The Second Tranche: 50% of arrears in July 2010
- The Third Tranche: Remaining 50% of arrears in October 2010 .

All other Allowances (Difficult /Deprive Area, Supervisory , and Special Subject Allowance, i.e ICT, Science and Mathematics and Vocational) be differed and taken on board as part of the harmonization and standardization of Allowance s in the implementation process of the Single Spine Pay policy (SSPP) .
- The list of eligible teachers (certified teachers ), their grades and salary levels should be submitted to Ministry of Finance and Economic planning and fair Wages and Salaries Commission to effect the implementation.
